Hosting, without the trap

A virtual tour is not a file: it is a service that must stay online for years, load fast on mobile, and outlive the contractor who produced it. Those three requirements decide almost everything.

Why it is not just a file

A 250-megapixel panorama weighs several hundred megabytes. Served as-is it is unusable on mobile - hence tiling, which is real infrastructure work.

Each panorama is cut into levels of detail, like a map: the visitor first receives a light image, then only the tiles for the area they are looking at. That is what lets a tour start in one second on a phone - and exactly what a file dropped on a server does not do.

Add access revocation for protected tours, purging old versions after a re-render, cookie-free analytics, and delivery from a network close to the visitor. None of these bricks is visible; all are sorely missed when absent.

The tour must outlive its contractor

This is the most important point on this page, and the least technical. A tour hosted on the photographer’s personal account disappears with them.

The scenario is mundane: a venue commissions its tour, it lives on the contractor’s account, and three years later the contractor has changed careers, raised the hosting fee, or simply stopped replying. The link dies, and with it the printed QR codes and the links from the website.

We designed workspaces so that cannot happen: a tour can be transferred from one workspace to another, with its analytics and its leads, without changing its public address. The pilot keeps their « Made by » credit; the venue keeps its tour. Nobody is held hostage.

The tour served from the client’s own domain, with no plugin.

The hosting is already included

Create an account, publish a tour: it stays online as long as the subscription runs, with no view counter.
